PALILULA - MOST SUCCESSFUL MUNICIPALITY IN LEDIB PROJECTS

Director LEDIB (Local Economic Development Balkans) and Carsten Lund and President of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić on the occasion of Palilula final activities of the project "Development and improvement of the competitiveness of SMEs in the field of improving energy efficiency in buildings", estimated that the last four-year cooperation has been very successful. Thanks to good Municipal projects, which were aimed at improving rates of local economic development, the budget of the organization of the local government of the City of Nis increased by 58, 000 Euros.
Our project management team, present here today, is highly rated by LEDIB organization, said Palilula Municipal president Boban Džunić. With Mr. Carsten we have opened series of questions about the Palilula potentials, development of agriculture, animal husbandry, rural tourism, opportunities for further cooperation. Cooperation of Palilula and LEDIB had begun with establishing the Center for Entrepreneurship. All the projects that were done after that, were some kind of upgrading our development strategy. Current project on energy efficiency, which is currently in progress, is also out of the economy and it aims to help the construction sector especially in buildings. The project deals with increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in the field of energy efficiency. It is now a very popular topic in Europe and the world, concluded President Dzunic.
Carsten Lund, director LEDIB, said that the aim of the meeting was to confirm good cooperation, but also to share information about what we will be done in the future. So far I have not I have not had the opportunity to meet with the new president Dzunic. so this is also our introduction. We have had excellent cooperation with the Municipality of Palilula in the past, and I am sure that after this meeting it will also continue. I can say, Carsten Lund said, that the president and I share the same perspective and seeing things in the same way when the problems of small and medium enterprises and economic development in our area are the matter, because we both come from the private sector, and I think that, in some way, it is the common ground when it comes to our future activities. I think that therefore it will be easier for us to identify the areas and problems that exist in the sector of small and medium enterprises, as well as to find solutions on how to help people of Palilula. What I can tell you from my experience, that the problems of small and medium-sized enterprises are identical, regardless of whether it comes to Serbia or any other country in the West. I expect that we will be able therefore to more quickly and efficiently collaborate and more easily find a way to help these companies.
According to the manager of the project in the "Energy Efficiency in Buildings" Ljubisa Jakovljevic, ten businessmen in the field of energy efficiency, with project team and experts of Palilula municipal administration, had a study trip to Verona, where they visited Green Building" Italy 2012 Fair. On this occasion, the partner organization EKOpolis conducted a contest for the best media report (in the category of students) on the theme: "Barriers and energy efficiency in buildings." Beside the implementation of several trainings and educations, dedicated to the owners of small and medium-sized enterprises, Palilula Municipality will participate in the formation of independent body to be called the `Council for Energy Efficiency`. I hope, emphasized Milan Nikolic, manager of the Project Center Palilula Municipality, that we will, after this project have great results.
LEDIB program - the Kingdom of Denmark, in accordance with the bilateral agreement of Denmark, and Serbian Government and the Poverty Reduction Strategy for Serbia, is aimed at supporting local economic development of the Balkans.
The main objective of the third project call was to support local governments of Nis District in their efforts to improve the rate of local economic development.
